Unknown gunmen have shot and killed a top leader of the Shiites group in Kano around 8 AM this morning according to reliable sources. Family sources told Saharareporters that a group of gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram operatives approached a prominent Shiites leader and Kano state civil servant, Alhaji Mohammed Alli at his home requesting to use one of his motorbikes for Jihad, but Alhaji Alli turned down the request and was promptly shot at a close range by the rampaging sect members. Alhaji Alli who lived in the Gadan Kaya area of Kano. He was known as one of the richest Shiites residing in Kano. His remains has since been deposited at the Murtala Mohammed hospital in Kano in preparation for burial according to Muslim rites. The vast Shiites group in Nigeria is led by Sayyid Ibrahim Zakzaky and the group is reputedly one of Nigeria's best organized Islamic sect with millions of members spread across northern Nigeria.
