What you should know about windows 8 before you upgrade to it

Windows 8 is great but before you jump into it, take a few seconds to read this and u'll be glad you did.
>> Navigation : Navigation in windows 8 is essentially the same as in windows 7, the major difference is that pressing the windows / start button opens up a menu of your home screen apps, amongst which is your desktop. Locating items in windows 8 using the search bar kind'a requires some additional steps ( press windows button, point you mouse to the lower or upper right, click on search or faster, press windows / start button + C then click on search) but it produces a more advanced and categorized result which - in my opinion - is worth the additional steps.
>> Boot speed : Windows 8 drops the use of BIOS. At shutdown, it hibernates the kernel automatically. With these two features, your windows 8 PC can boot up within 15 - 20 seconds even if you use a 2GB RAM. Amazing isnt it?
>> Drivers : Most people who rush into windows 8 do not take out time to find out if their PCs have drivers which support windows 8. Trying to use your windows 7 drivers on your windows 8 PC is suicidal! That's why most new windows 8 users get the Blue or Black Screen of Death alot.
>> Antivirus : Windows 8 comes with a preinstalled antivirus called Windows Defender. Avast - being very popular - is usually what most windows 8 users rush to install, and then they start getting blue screens and crash dumps. The reason is that avast is very paranoid ( jealous if you ask me) so it automatically intiates a fight with Windows Defender. To avoid such, disable windows defender.
>> Maximizing and minimizing : This is one very confusing aspect of windows 8. When using apps which are not intiated from your desktop, you could set them to occupy full or partail screen, giving you a great view of all you're doing. On minimizing, the apps seem to disappear. They are actually docked at the upper left corner of your screen. to maximize, simply navigate there and select from the list of docked apps. to close, simply right click an app and select close.
>> Fixing problems : Windows 8 comes with a variety of diagnostic and repair tools, SWEET!. When having issues, all you need do is click restart while holding down shift and you'll be booted into the diagnostic area. The tools are so easy to use that even a newbie could use them.
>> Internet Connection : Your preinstalled apps like Bing, skydrive, xbox music... download feed updates from time to time so you might want to control the contollables like windows update so your MB doesnt get used up so quickly.
